Rev.
Horton believes "the church is the institution in which God chose to
fulfill the great commission. We are to tell others about Christ,
baptize those that respond to Him, and disciple all believers to follow
His commands and His mission." He truly has a heart for
missions and discipleship. He is never happier than when someone
responds to God's calling to salvation and service. His
wife, Erin, shares a similar passion. She is currently teaching at
Franklinville Elementary School and is letting her light shine inside and
outside of the classroom. She is a devoted teacher, mother, and
wife. Jeremy, their three year old, is currently more passionate
about big trucks and tractors than anything else, but he loves to go
to church! Rev. Horton says,
"God called me to preach at a young age and I have tried my best to
be faithful to that calling. My prayer is that God can use even the
foolishness of a kid like me to draw families to the God that loves them,
the Savior that saves them, and the Spirit that sustains them. God
wants all of us, not just our Sundays, and I hope that we will be a
devoted people doing His work on Earth. Come join us this Sunday and
see what God is doing to transform lives and bring His people together in
unity." |

Church
music should be uplifting and enjoyable and it should point to
Christ. It should enhance the worship service and make it more
meaningful. At Shady Grove, we enjoy traditional church music,
Southern Gospel, Bill Gaither style, with a minor blend of contemporary
church music . We highlight the seasons with special music presentations,
usually in the form of a cantata. We have a 21 member adult
choir ranging in age from 15 to senior adult. We also are
fortunate to have singers of all ages in various group sizes. Our Musicians
include Mae York, Kathy Martin, and myself. I
have been blessed to be able to work with church music for 50 years with
the last 35 as music director. Shady Grove is a special place with
special people who love music and good fellowship. |

Mrs. Fields has been our Youth Director for many
years. Organization of our Awana's program, local activities for
younger youth (0-10) and our yearly Caswell trip for our teens are
just a few of the many tasks taken on by this lady and our youth committee. |
